Hi Neighbors – Your neighborhood org. needs some help! We are in need of volunteers for several upcoming activities: 1. Oct/Nov Neighborhood Newsletter distribution, 2. Neighborhood booth attendant at the South Lansing Farmer’s Market on Oct. 15, and 3. Welcome basket drop-off to new neighbors the weekend of Oct 17-18. Tell us which of these activities you would be able to volunteer for by contacting Matthias at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by commenting below. We appreciate your time and support!
Meetings are back! Join us at St. Casimir from 6:30-8p.m. on Wednesday, September 9. We’ll be discussing two topics: Our entrance sign for the Moores Park Neighborhood and the Love Your Block grant program!
Neighborhood Sign: This year we received a grant to assist us in placing a neighborhood sign. We’ve got a location for it, and need a small committee to discuss the logistics, type, and other details.
Love Your Block: We hope to receive one of the block grants for the Moores Park Neighborhood. and need to discuss what project we could accomplish as a group. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30, 2015. About the Love Your Block program: It is a program through the city of Lansing that will provide mini-grants (up to $5,000) for neighborhood revitalization projects funded through the Cities of Service.
Enjoy a viewing of *batteries not included (1987) at Moores Park on August 28. The activities will start at 8:00 p.m. with a REACH art studio presentation: Origami Sculpture Unveiling – Over a dozen teens created positive message signage and sculptures for Moore’s Park. Popcorn, drinks, and cotton candy are for sale. THIS EVENT IS FREE! If you have questions please call at (517) 999-3643. The movie will begin at dusk and end around 10pm. Watch this PG rated family movie projected onto a big screen behind the park pavilion! Bring chairs, blankets, and food to enjoy the event.
The Love Your Block program is a service strategy to engage community members in revitalizing neighborhoods – one block at a time. Through this program the city of Lansing will provide mini-grants (up to $5,000) for neighborhood revitalization projects funded through the Cities of Service.
Learn more about the grant, and start a conversation about potential projects our neighborhood could apply for on August 17 from 7-9 p.m. at St. Casimir Church, 800 W. Barnes Ave. Lansing, MI 48910. This will be a PhotoVoice presentation through the Lansing Love Your Block program. For questions or concerns, contact Neighborhood Engagement Coordinator, Andi Crawford at email@example.com.
