TruGreen’s #TruNeighbor Grant Benefits Moores Park Neighborhood

12049577_1502473213385386_4755892518172934965_nIt was officially announced on Sept. 30 that thanks to TruGreen’s TruNeighbor grant, plus Blight Elimination funds provided by MSHDA, a Land Bank owned property in the 1800 block of Osband Ave. is being redeveloped into a fruit tree and perennial garden for neighbors to gather and children to play.

Our neighbors on Osband Ave. will directly benefit from this green space! This will be an ongoing partnership with the Land Bank, TruGreen and our neighborhood.

Volunteers Needed

Hi Neighbors – Your neighborhood org. needs some help! We are in need of volunteers for several upcoming activities: 1. Oct/Nov Neighborhood Newsletter distribution, 2. Neighborhood booth attendant at the South Lansing Farmer’s Market on Oct. 15, and 3. Welcome basket drop-off to new neighbors the weekend of Oct 17-18. Eastside Neighborhood Candidates Night Oct. 7

The Eastside Neighborhood Organization (ENO) Candidates Night is Wednesday October 7, 2015 at the Foster Community Center. Candidates running for the City of Lansing Council-At-Large and First Ward seats are invited. There will be a 6:00 pm meet and greet and a 6:30 pm Q&A session. Download the flyer for more details. MPNO Meetings Start Again – Sept. 9

Meetings are back! Join us at St. Casimir from 6:30-8p.m. on Wednesday, September 9. We’ll be discussing two topics: Our entrance sign for the Moores Park Neighborhood and the Love Your Block grant program!

Neighborhood Sign: This year we received a grant to assist us in placing a neighborhood sign. We’ve got a location for it, and need a small committee to discuss the logistics, type, and other details.

Love Your Block: We hope to receive one of the block grants for the Moores Park Neighborhood. and need to discuss what project we could accomplish as a group. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30, 2015. About the Love Your Block program: It is a program through the city of Lansing that will provide mini-grants (up to $5,000) for neighborhood revitalization projects funded through the Cities of Service.

“*batteries not included” Movie Night Aug. 28

Enjoy a viewing of *batteries not included (1987) at Moores Park on August 28. The activities will start at 8:00 p.m. with a REACH art studio presentation: Origami Sculpture Unveiling – Over a dozen teens created positive message signage and sculptures for Moore’s Park. Popcorn, drinks, and cotton candy are for sale. THIS EVENT IS FREE! If you have questions please call at (517) 999-3643. The movie will begin at dusk and end around 10pm. Watch this PG rated family movie projected onto a big screen behind the park pavilion! Bring chairs, blankets, and food to enjoy the event.
